A wall bed asks a panel to be large, flat, and moving, all at once, and to hold the hardware that lifts and lowers it thousands of times. That is a job where the core is not a detail, it is the safety margin.
Vaultwood Core™, the specified premium MDF core, brings the properties that matter here: 45 to 49 pcf density[2] for a stable, uniform body, modulus of rupture over 4,500 psi[4] to stay flat across a bed-width panel, and 275 to 350 lbf screw-holding[4] so mechanism brackets and mounting points keep their grip.
Spec guidance: mount the lift mechanism and pivots into full-thickness core, follow the hardware maker's fastener and torque callouts, and account for panel weight in your counterbalance selection[5]. Specify Vaultwood Core in premium MDF, not HDF, for a stable, paintable panel that will not fight the mechanism. For a bed in a bedroom or guest room, specify the NAF option with TSCA Title VI[7] and CARB Phase 2[8] documentation.
